Ayu Logan is a filmmaker who is driven to tell stories about immigration, cultural identities and social justice. Having lived and worked in New Zealand, Japan, Mexico and the U.S., she is a mixed-race global citizen who is strongly committed to using media for social awareness, impact and change.
She was a 2020 fellow of the Creative Visions Women Excel Project which teams up emerging female filmmakers with non-profit organizations working for gender justice and equality in Los Angeles. Experienced in various aspects of production, her feature-length documentary work ranges from being a camera operator and translator on Seeking Asylum, to assisting on the Academy Award and impact campaigns for the Tribeca-award winning film Ferguson Rises. She currently travels around the U.S. in a big, green RV as a director on the PBS documentary series Roadtrip Nation.
She speaks English, Spanish and Japanese.
